The Cayuga is such a beautiful duck. Good egg producers, they go broody and will hatch their own young. We find them to be smart, but a bit flightier than our Rouens and Muscovy. They are often out back with the horses on the prowl for bugs and grubs. The girls aren't as "quacky" as our Rouen hens and the drakes seem less aggressive with each other than the Rouens. The Cayuga has gorgeous black plumage as a young bird, and slowly develops white feathers over time. They are so consistent in appearance that a when a few white feathers start to pop up in the second year we can finally tell them apart!
