The Leghorn wasn't a breed we had intended to be involved with, but when we realized white was the one colour we were missing from our egg baskets we decided to try out the mighty Leghorn. Too small to be much of a table bird (but a great soup bird!) they make up for it with their jaunty personalities and ability to hold their own in the farmyard. We find the small, feminine hens to be curious and brave and the roosters to be mild mannered. Laying starts early, around 5 months, and they provide a consistent supply of large to extra large pristine white eggs.
